The Cycling

Contrary to popular belief Mont Ventoux does not stick up on it's own in the middle of a flat plain. Although not on a scale like The Alps or the Pyrenees, the hills and mountains surrounding Mont Ventoux on all 4 sides are stunning and perfectly situated to offer fantastic loop rides or varying difficulty from the Veloventoux accommodation.
If you want an easier day in the saddle, to the north west it's easy enough to ride out onto the flatter Cotes du Rhone vineyards.

The Gorge de la Nesque and the fountain at Ste. Jalle

We now have Garmin friendly GPX files for all our classic rides so if you want to download the routes before you come just send us an email.

Le Tour du Ventoux - 110km circuit around the base of Mont Ventoux without any major climbs. Includes the Gorge de la Nesque and the Toulourenc Valley. Simply stunning. "If Carlsberg made bike rides" as one Veloventoux guest said.

The 10 Cols Challenge - 145km with (obviously) 10 climbs of varying difficulty. Includes a 60km section where you'll be unlucky if more than 10 cars pass you.

The Col de Perty - a 1300m col just 40km to the east of us which can be incorporated into 3 or 4 different loop rides. A Cat 2 climb in the 2006 Tour de France.

The 7 Col Challenge. - A shorter version of the 10 cols Challenge

The 3 Cols - Fantastic ride of 65km over the Col de Propiac, The Col d'Ey and the Col de la Croix. 2 - 4 hours depending on fitness.

The Cairanne Ride. Easier ride to the west with fantastic views of the Rhone Valley and the Massif Central.

The Dentelles and The Wine Villages - Stunning riding through the Dentelle de Montmirail mountains to the west of Malaucene.

Col de Macuegne and Sederon - 100km exactly. Becoming a bit of a classic ride for the 9km long Col de Macuegne and "The Pause" cyclist friendly snack bar in Sederon.

The Brantes Ride - A stunning two to three hour loop into the Toulourenc valley to the north of Mont Ventoux with a cafe stop at the perched village of Brantes.

Randonées

If you don't want the pressure of a full-on Cyclosportive but want a little more organisation a randonée might be for you. These are organised by local cycling clubs throughout the season and there will usually be a short family ride of about 30-40km, a medium ride of 70-80km and a longer ride of 100km+.
Don't be surprised if you're offered a glass of Rosé and some olives at a feed stop ! The biggest and most popular randonée in our area is The Buiscyclette and more information can be found at The Buiscyclette.
